Roma memorial
The holocaust memorial projects is located on the same grounds as the former concentration camp where large number of members of the Roma community have tragically lost their lives. The project aims to form a maze that leads to the original burial place. The landscape is scared and split through series of curved walls that form a maze like journey through the history and painful memories of the Roma community all the way to the burial place that is covered in poppy seeds fl owers forming a dark red fi eld. The walls defi ne a very dramatic space where one needs to face the physical presence of the fence like walls that spatially intensify the emotion and force the visitor to contemplate the past. The walls curve in order to diff erentiate the journey into large pockets and tight corridors to enable a strong and structured curatorial concept.
