sport hotel Pelhrimov
Competition entry for the refurbishment of an ice-skating rink in Pelhrimov to include a hotel for visiting teams. The design concept introduces a modular concrete grid to unify the massing of the existing rink and new hotel. The grid follows the existing structural bays of the ice-skating rink, minimising structural works in the refurbishment. This allowed the facade of the existing volume to be upgraded to a high-performance skin suitable for modern use. The proposal also included well-integrated landscape design which provides outdoor space for a restaurant and nursery and public realm around the existing water reservoirs. Images by Matt Austin.
