Hugging altar Kolín
The sculpture aims to provide an interactive addition to the pilgrim's path across the hill in Vinice. Taking the form of a sphere, it stands out as an object distinct from its surroundings, resembling a foreign planet. On closer inspection, one discovers a body imprint on the sphere, inviting pilgrims to engage with it through a hug. Those who interact with the sculpture, embracing the sphere as suggested, are rewarded with a magnificent view of the city of Kolin framed by a circular opening. The sculpture's rich and deep texture mimics the surface of the moon, enhancing its meteor-like quality. To bring this vision to life, the sculpture is proposed to be crafted through digital fabrication methods, utilizing glass fibre-reinforced concrete. This approach ensures a blend of modern technology and artistic expression, contributing to the sculpture's unique and captivating presence on the pilgrim's path. Images by Studio Negativ.
