Hainan Innovation Hub

The project explores a unique blend of workspace and recreational areas, creating a distinct typology at their intersection. A series of carefully designed perforated roofs facilitate natural ventilation, utilizing the island's winds to cool interior spaces. Enhanced by evaporation cooling techniques and integrated greenery, the hub provides a naturally ventilated environment suitable for various functions, including accommodation, recreation, and workspace. Environmental considerations are central to our architectural concept and project design. The expansive roofs offer covered areas partitioned into zones with customized climate control. Workspaces and accommodation units are situated within air-conditioned enclosures, while ancillary functions are placed in naturally ventilated and shaded outdoor spaces. Various strategies, such as solar shading, intelligent ventilation systems, vegetation integration, water features, and evaporation cooling, ensure comfortable environmental conditions for occupants in both air-conditioned and naturally ventilated areas. Inspired by vernacular construction methods, the roofs feature substantial timber structural elements, creating an open civic space.
